OUR STORY
Closet Share began with a simple idea: clothing should be accessible, affordable, and kept out of landfills whenever possible.
Founded by Melissa and Drew Porter, Closet Share grew from an idea into a community-driven charitable organization built around clothing access, textile waste reduction, and connection. What started small quickly became something much bigger—a place where donated clothing is given a second life and where people from all walks of life can shop, volunteer, learn new skills, and be part of a community.
Melissa leads the vision and day-to-day growth of Closet Share. Her creativity, determination, and experience building communities have shaped the organization into what it is today. From developing new programs and partnerships to finding better ways to reuse textiles, her focus has always been on creating something practical, inclusive, and different.
Drew has been a steady part of Closet Share from the beginning, supporting the organization behind the scenes and helping turn big ideas into reality. Together, Melissa and Drew have built Closet Share around the belief that sustainability and community support can work together.
Today, Closet Share provides free and affordable clothing, creates opportunities for volunteers, works with community organizations, and finds new ways to keep textiles in use and out of landfills.
Closet Share is for everyone. Your closet. Your community.
